The Francis type hydraulic turbines manufactured by Resita Works covers the range of net heads between 10m-600m and of unit powers between 1MW-170MW. These turbines were entirely performed based on a Romanian design with a continuous improvement of their technical efficiencies and within a relative short period of assimilation (H.E.P.P. Paltin-1970, P=5350kW, H=80m; H.E.P.P. Tarnita-1974, P=23200kW, H=78m; H.E.P.P. Mariselu-1977, P=85500kW, H=440m; H.E.P.P. Retezat-1986, P=170500kW, H=526m).
A qualitative leap as concerns the design, with subsequent implications in the manufacturing process, erection works and putting into operation was achieved by performing the hydraulic turbine FVM 85,5-440 for H.E.P.P. Mariselu.
Technical characteristics of the turbine:
- Range of net heads: 399-467 m
- Runner diameter: 2250 mm
- Rated speed: 600 rpm.
- Maximum power: 85500 kW
The manufacture, erection and putting into operation of the 3 (three) power groups for H.E.P.P. Mariselu also required special efforts on behalf of all factors involved, effort that were rewarded by a proper performance of the power groups since their putting into operation and until now. This achievement represented an outstanding national premiere and a real success in designing, manufacturing and erection of these power groups followed by a professional operation. All these factors allowed us to take into consideration the design of the most efficient Francis hydraulic turbines of 170MW at 526m which were manufactured by U.C.M. Resita S.A. and were installed in 1986 at H.E.P.P. Retezat, operating with good results in the range of the designed heads and powers. The experience gathered in the design and manufacture of Francis hydraulic turbines opened the possibility for U.C.M. Resita S.A. to export these power groups, starting with 1980, to power plants located in Turkey.
The Francis hydraulic turbines, custom designed, were manufactured in a number of 38 typo-dimensions summing around 2760MW all of them having a good behavior in operation. |
