At the beginning of 2005, Hydro Engineering improved its own concept of complete automation for a hydro electric power plant (HEPP). This concept developed the following matters related to the digital control of the hydro power process:
Automate control of the hydro unit speed;
The algorithms specific to stationary and transient operating duty cycles of the turbine-hydro generator assembly;
Monitoring in real time the information regarding the operation of the hydro unit;
Programmable electric protections of the hydro generator;
Human - machine applications (HMI - Human Machine Interface);
Serial communications between the components of the control system;
Remote communications (control);
Internal diagnosis (for each digital equipment and implemented algorithms) summarized at SCADA level (Data acquisition and control system);
Data bases and statistic analysis elements for the progress in time of major interest events;
System diagnosis, stating:
The conditions preceding the imminence appearance of a certain flaw;
On-line signaling of each flaw stating the degree of danger in unit operation;
Displaying immediate measures, providing indications to the operator in the power plant regarding the recording of a certain event;

Self-adaptability of the transfer functions of the system to the change of some primary parameters (system frequency, permanent offset characteristic etc).
