The hydraulic micro turbine of KT type is designed to operate under relatively important flows with regard to the available heads. The extremely simple design of the turbine makes it highly attractive for not very demanding arrangements, temporary or even occasionally, its structure allowing location of several micro unit batteries coupled in series or in parallel. For low outputs, i.e. small dimensions of the runner, the KT micro turbines are operating under the principle all or nothing, with a fixed position of the guide vanes; for larger arrangements there are provided regulating systems for continuous or temporary adjustment of uptake flow, the wicket gate being adjustable.
Depending on the parameters of the arrangement, the KT turbines can drive one or two generators oppositely located, thus the tensile force of the drive belts to be balanced, unloading the turbine bearings.
